Susan Ladner
Susan has over 20 years of management experience in policy and program development and assessment, board relations, and fundraising strategies with special emphasis on the health and human service sectors. As Vice President of the National Child Labor Committee she directed strategic planning and marketing of national school and business partnerships. She developed and assessed programs for at-risk youth, created and marketed health and education services for immigrants and refugees, evaluated national programs for the homeless, and directed legislative programs in mental health, alcohol and drug abuse in senior management positions at the New York Association of New Americans, the NYC Human Resources Administration and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health.

A partner at Collaborative Strategies, Susan worked as a consultant in the areas of strategic planning, fundraising, conference planning, grants management and board relations services for clients including the National Academy Foundation, the Women's Foundation and New York University. As Special Assistant to the President of the NYC Board of Education, she was the principal liaison to elected officials, business leaders, media and community groups. She is the author of articles about the elderly homeless, the mentally ill as well as nonprofit management.

The former Chair of the Barnard College Fund Committee, she is a member
of Barnard's Leadership Council Committee, the National Youth Employment
Coalition's Board Development Committee and a member of the Advisory
Board of The Painting Center.

She has a BA from Barnard College, an MPH from Yale University, a JD from the University of Connecticut and is a member of the Connecticut Bar.


Jeffrey F. Newman
Jeff served as President and Executive Director of the National Child Labor Committee for 30 years, overseeing the management, administration, fundraising and program development of this century-old nonprofit organization serving children and youth. As a leader in developing partnerships between the public and private sectors, he has helped foundations improve grantmaking effectiveness.  He has helped corporations develop new community outreach efforts and has assisted them in enhancing their corporate social responsibility programs.  He has worked with the leadership of corporations including Diageo, Burger King, Pillsbury and Hearst.

Jeff has authored and co-authored numerous publications and op-ed pieces on the subject of youth, work and education, and has appeared on television and radio programs from Nightline and The Today Show to ABC, CBS and NBC news.

Jeff is a member of the boards of Building Bridges to the Future Foundation and Friends of VISTA. He served as Chairman of the National Youth Employment Coalition for four years, and served for twelve years on the Hastings-on-Hudson Board of Education, including three as President and as a member of the Board of C-CAP (Career through Culinary Arts Programs).

He holds a B.A. degree from Columbia University.
